Barbara (Davis) Compton, age 84, of Morrice, passed away peacefully on February 3, 2025. Barbara was born and raised in Belding, MI, on July 28, 1940, the daughter of Rolland Davis and Marjory Denman.

She retired from medical transcription but had previously lived in Houston, TX, where she worked at and owned Copysette, Inc., a typesetting company. Barb was known for her strong work ethic and sense of responsibility, setting a great example for her children.

Barb was also a very talented oil painter. She enjoyed flower gardening, reading, crocheting, and knitting. She had a great sense of humor and was a fun mom, grandma, and great-grandma. She spent many days babysitting all of her great-grandchildren.

She was a member of the First Congregational Church of Bancroft, where she painted a full-wall mural of Jesus with children.

She is survived by her son, Michael (Patty) Hewitt, and his daughter Crystal Hewitt; daughter, Julie Tucker, and her children Daniel, Michael, and David Tucker, and Sarah Hewitt; son, Kevin (Laura) Hewitt, and their sons Maxwell and Alex Hewitt; nine great-grandchildren; sisters, Joan Coapman of Camarillo, CA, and Shirley Cataline of Hessel, MI; and brother, Mark (Shirley) Denman of Belding. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Bruce Wisner; brother-in-law, Richard Coapman; and niece, Cindy Page. Barb had been a resident of Vibrant Life Memory Care in Durand for the past three years, where she received exceptional care from their dedicated and compassionate staff.
