HARDENBURG, Lewis J. - Age 90, of Swartz Creek, died Thursday, April 12, 2018. Private graveside services will be held Thursday, April 19, 2018 at Great Lakes National Cemetery, 4200 Belford Road, Holly. Pastor Patrick MacMillan officiating. Visitation will be held at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek Wednesday April 18, 2018 from 6-8 PM, Those desiring may make contributions to the Wounded Warriors Project,
Lewis was born July 2, 1927 in Maple Grove Township, the son of Lewis M. and Lila Ruth (Leathers) Hardenburg. He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the U.S. Navy. He married Dorothy Booth December 4, 1954 in Flint. He retired in 1984 from the U.S.P.S. after 37 years of service as a rural route carrier.
Surviving are: his wife of 63 years, Dorothy; daughter, Cindy and husband Patrick MacMillan of Swartz Creek; grandchildren, Jason and wife Holly Hardenburg of Grand Rapids, Justin Hardenburg of Bentley, Cameron and wife Hannah MacMillan of Florida, Kristie and husband Ray Charvat of Flint Township, Kayla MacMillan of Flint, Joshua Hardenburg of Swartz Creek,and Devin Hardenburg of Swartz Creek; 7 great grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Robin Hardenburg of Swartz Creek; sisters, Mavis Merrill of Flint and Judy and husband George Browen of Holly; brother, Elwood and wife Jean Hardenburg of Montrose; and several nieces and nephews.
