BROOKS, John Ward – of Davison, MI, age 72, passed away Saturday, September 10, 2022. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 1 PM Thursday, September 15, 2022 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 404 North Dayton Street, Davison, MI 48423; Rev. Fr. Andrew A. Czajkowski celebrant. Entombment immediately following the Mass in St. John Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive visitors 4-7 PM Wednesday, September 14, 2022 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Road, Davison, MI 48423 and one hour prior to the Mass on Thursday, September 15, 2022 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. A Rosary will be prayed 5 PM Wednesday, September 14, 2022 at Allen Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, in John’s memory.
John was born in Flint, MI on May 6, 1950, son of the late Ward and Mary Louise “MaryLou” (Selzer) Brooks. John was a 1968 graduate of Davison High School and received his bachelor’s degree from Central Michigan University in 1972. He retired from General Motors in 2008. John was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, serving as an usher and working at Andy’s Attic. He was a classic car aficionado and member of the Classic Cruisers Car Club of Lapeer, MI. John was a member of the Lion’s club and served on many boards in Richfield Township. He enjoyed his morning coffee’s up at Heidi’s Market with his crew.
John is survived by his sister, Marilyn Swank; 2 nephews, Brian (Ashalay) Swank and Christopher (Emily) Swank; great-nieces, Zoe and Arianna Swank; many other loving family members and good friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ward and MaryLou Brooks.
