Kenneth S. Makuch 3-20-1949 – 10-14-2022
Ken, age 73, passed away at home with his family by his side. Ken was the co-owner of Makuch’s Red Rooster and took great pride in providing one of a kind gourmet meals. Arthur and Olga Makuch opened Makuch’s Red Rooster in 1959 when Ken was just 11 years old, and the restaurant business became a passion for him. The Rooster was a joyous place with great food, ambiance and service and was enjoyed by many loyal customers for over 50 years.
Ken was an avid Chef, wine connoisseur and gardener. He had a huge love for dogs and always had treats ready for any neighborhood dogs. In his earlier years he loved golf and traveling. He enjoyed hosting Buick Open golfers for many years and travelled to many places with his beloved wife Micky. Ken was a loving devoted husband, a loving father, and a loving grandfather.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Micky Makuch, daughters Jodi Dunn (Kenneth Dunn), Carrie Nelson (Jason Lashuay), Kristen Helmstetter (Greg Helmstetter), son Kenneth Makuch jr. (Yolanda Makuch), granddaughters Gracyn Brady (Edward Brady), Viviana Dunn, Donna Dunn, Kamea Helmstetter, grandsons Devon Makuch, Jhase Makuch, great grandchildren Edward Brandy jr., Violet Brady, brother Archie Makuch, sister in laws Tina Mushall (Kenneth Mushall), Suzanne Joseph (David Joseph) Diana Makuch, brother in law Stephen Marta, special nephew Matthew Makuch, nephews Ryan Joseph, Matthew Joseph, Christopher Mushall, Eric Mushall, Michael Makuch, Mark Makuch, nieces Marta Jospeh, Laura Neiman, Lisa Makuch, Nicole Howell and many special friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Arthur and Olga Makuch, his father and mother-in-law Frank and Donna Marta, brother Denis Makuch, sister-in-law Avis Makuch and many fur babies.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11am Saturday, October 22, 2022 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint.
Visitation 10am Saturday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Detroit Bulldog Rescue in memory of Ken Makuch, P.O. Box 284, St. Clair Shores, MI, 48080.
