HITCHCOCK, Janette Helen (Brown) – of Burton, MI, age 67, passed away Saturday, December 9, 2023. Honoring her wishes, cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will take place in the spring of 2024. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Humane Society of Genesee County or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, in Janette’s memory.
Janette was born in Flint, MI on March 8, 1956, daughter of the late Vernon and Helen (Mucha) Brown. She was a graduate of Kearsley High School, Class of 1974. After graduation Janette went on to receive an Associate Degree in Applied Science from Jackson Community College majoring in Diagnostic Medical Sonography. She went on to work at Genesys Integrated Group as a Sonographer for 22 years.
During her life, Janette contributed her talents to family-owned restaurants, notably at Brown’s Family Restaurant, where her warmth and hospitality left a lasting impression on patrons. She also worked alongside her brothers at the beginning stages of Creative Catering.
Janette’s true joy and fulfillment, however, came from her role as a devoted mother, grandmother, family member and friend. She cherished moments with her grandchildren, creating lasting memories filled with love and laughter. Her presence at family gatherings brought a special warmth and sense of unity that will be deeply missed. Janette’s legacy is one of dedication, love, and importance of family bonds, she was one to never forget a birthday or special occasion by always making sure to mail a card well in advance and always send a text on that special day. Her memory was impeccable, if you couldn’t remember a name of a person or place, she was your go to, she would never forget. She leaves behind a treasure trove of cherished memories, reminding us all to embrace every moment with our loved ones. May her soul rest in peace and may her family find solace in the beautiful memories she leaves behind.
Janette is survived by her son Derek (Lindsey) Hitchcock; 3 grandchildren, Nash, Monroe, and Knoxx; 2 brothers, Gregory (Brenda) Brown and Steven (Sandy Mastin) Brown; dear friends, Kathy Southward, Cheryl Voss, Dianne Smith, LeAnn Lane, and Renee Butler, along with many other loving family members and good friends. She was proceeded in death by her parents, Vernon and Helen Brown, and brother Roger Brown.
