FIALKA, Robert G., age 86, of Flint, passed away Friday, December 6, 2013 at Henry Ford Hospital. Funeral Services will be 11:00AM Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at Reigle Funeral Home, 5501 W. Pierson Rd., Flushing. The family will receive friends 10AM Wednesday until service time. Interment will follow at New Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Flint. Visitation will be 7:00PM-9:00PM Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to Flint Institute of Arts or Flint Institute of Music.
Robert was born October 27, 1927 in Flint the son of the late Andrew J. and Susan Raichel Fialka. He graduated as the Valedictorian from Northern High School, attended Mott Community College and earned his B.A. Degree in the English Honors Program from University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. Robert served in the U.S. Coast Guard during WWII. He began employment with the Flint Journal in 1945 where he was a reporter and copy editor. Robert retired after 33 years of service. Robert was a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church, Flint.
Surviving are his son, Joseph A. Fialka; sister, Virginia Harrai and brother, Albert Fialka and many nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Mary Kaza, Betty Toporak, Rose Dingo, Ann St. Martin; brothers, Joseph, Bernard, Lawrence, andFrank Fialka.
