Graves, Shirley Ann, of Flushing, age 85, died Tuesday, December 15, 2020, at Hurley Medical Center. Private funeral services will take place at Rossell Funeral Home. Private burial will be at Flushing Cemetery. Due to Covid restrictions, we will provide an option to attend the service virtually through a livestream. Day and time will be announced.
Shirley was born in Fremont, Michigan on November 21, 1935, the daughter of Atwood and Dorothy (Fuller) Shelley. She graduated from Flushing High in 1954. Shirley married Harold Graves in Flint on June 25, 1955. He preceded her in death on May 14, 1993. Shirley was very active in the Flushing community. She owned and operated the Suburban Shop, Para Mont Dress Shop and later brought the Para Mont Bridal Store to Flushing. Shirley was the first female President of the Flushing Chamber of Commerce Board. After retiring from her businesses, you could often find her working at Walgreens in Flushing. She enjoyed flower gardening and had the most beautiful hanging baskets. Her family, especially her grandchildren gave her so much joy, but most important to Shirley was her strong Christian faith.
Shirley is survived by her children, Suzanne and husband John Wellington and Daniel and wife Rose Graves; grandchildren, Jason and wife Amber Graves, Christine and husband Nathan Hunter, Joshua Wellington, Michelle and husband Ben Mannino, Danelle and husband Ryan Stabel; step-grandchildren, Mallory and husband Tim O’Day, Johnny Wellington, Hillary and husband Jacob Garcia; great-grandchildren, Ryan, Owen, Ethan, Vivian, Dalton, Skylar, Alexandra, Dominic, Gabriel, Ariana, Amelia; great-grandchildren, Jayna, Patrick, Dakota; siblings, Diane Crane, Arlene and husband Leland Cory; sister-in-law, Rosalee Cory. She was also preceded in death by her parents. |
