HANNIGAN, Peter Edward – of Flint, MI, age 74, went to meet his Lord and Savior on Friday, September 1, 2023. A Funeral Service, with Military Honors, will be held 2 PM Friday, September 8, 2023 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Road, Davison, MI 48423; Rev. Jeffrey S. Krist officiating. Interment will be 1:30 PM Monday, September 11, 2023 in Great Lakes National Cemetery, 4200 Belford Road, Holly, MI 48442. The family will receive visitors 12-2 PM Friday, September 8, 2023 at Allen Funeral Home.
Peter was born in Liverpool, England on September 25, 1948, son of the late Edward Patrick and May (Parker) Hannigan. He was proud to become a United States citizen on July 10, 1989, and he follows it by saying that his family had to choose between America and Australia, and they chose America. Peter always made it clear that his family came here legally; his father had to have a secure job and their family had to have a secure sponsor to come to America. He was a graduate of Holy Rosary Catholic High School Class of 1966, the first graduation class for the school. After graduation, Peter was drafted into the United States Army and served until April 1970, earning the National Defense Service Medal. In 1968, Peter hired into AC Spark Plug and worked there until 1994 when General Motors sold their truck fleet to Penske. He then became a long-haul truck driver until retiring in 2003.
Surviving to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 33 years, Prudy Joy Hannigan; son, Greg (Andrea) Hannigan; 2 grandchildren, Joseph Hannigan and Lillian Hannigan; 4 siblings, Patricia “Teesha” Thompson, Christopher Hannigan, Kevin (Sue) Hannigan and Denis (Amy) Hannigan; aunt, June (Sam) Ancic; many other loving family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Patrick and May Hannigan.
The family would like to extend a very sincere thank you to Patrick Gibson and Danny Carpenter for the many ways they have helped our family as we have journeyed through these latter years.
