Vivian F. Kennedy, age 80 of Flint, passed away on Tuesday, July 20, 2021, peacefully at her residence with her daughter by her side. Vivian was born in Wilkes County, North Carolina to parents Thomas, Jr. and Stella (Shew) Marshall. Vivian worked for Federal’s Department Store and General Motors before devoting her time to raising a family.
Vivian loved her family more than anything and was a caregiver to her mother for many years. She loved to macramé, sew, draw, garden, and cook. Vivian loved to share her recipes and home-cooked meals. She also loved to read, a passion that she shared with her granddaughter.
Vivian is survived by her daughter, Kathleen Kennedy of Flint; granddaughter, Ashleigh (Joe) Quirarte of U.S. Army Garrison Stuttgart, Germany; brother-in-law, Richard (Sandy) Kennedy; sister-in-law, Judith McCulley; several special nieces and nephews; special friends Al, Terry, and Angelina Bontumasi; and special neighbor, Auburn Copeland.
Vivian was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Lyle Kennedy;both her parents; and in-laws, David and Ester Kennedy.
A special thank you to Dr. Mohammad, Barb, Dr. Szyarto, Lisa, Dr. Ellsworth, Bobby, Kelly, Dr. Lafia, Dr. Raneses, Kindred Hospice, Doctors of Physical Therapy-Flint, and all the aforementioned support staff for their exemplary care.
Visitation will take place on Thursday, July 29th, 2021, from 3:00pm to 8:00pm at Reigle Funeral Home, 5501 W. Pierson Rd, Flushing, MI. A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 30th, 2021, at 1:00pm at Reigle Funeral Home. Interment following at Flint Memorial Park. A dinner at the family home will follow the service.
