RAY, Gerald “Jerry” - Of Burton, age 79, died Saturday, July 8, 2023
at Hurley Medical Center.
Funeral service will be held 2pm Friday, July 14, 2023 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint,
Pastor Steve Wood officiating.
Burial in Evergreen Cemetery.
Visitation 1-8pm Thursday and 10am Friday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Contributions may be made to The Old Newsboys of Flint.
Gerald was born in Flint, Michigan on January 9, 1944, the son of the late Vern and Ruby Ray. He graduated from Flint Southwestern Academy. Jerry then worked for Buick Motors for 37 years, retiring in 1999. On May 2, 1964, he married Mary Katherine “Kath” Pierce in Flint. Jerry enjoyed bowling, gardening and being outdoors. His favorite hobby was spending time with his sons and grandchildren.
Surviving are wife of 59 years, Mary Katherine “Kath” Ray (Pierce);
sons, John (Mary) Ray and Dan (Stormy) Ray;
grandchildren, Felicia (Brad) Maschino, John Jr. (Chelcey) Ray, Andres Perez and Madison Larmie;
great-grandson, and the apple of his eye, John Ray III;
sister, Barbara Wilson, brother, Verlin (Mavis) Ray and sister-in-law, Norma Ray.
He was also preceded in death by his sister, Virginia Fisher, Violet Brown, Carolina Fenton, Donna Keen, Shirley Comstock, Elaine Lee, brothers, Vern Ray Jr., Bob Ray, Leroy Ray, and Bruce Ray.
