ALLEN (GARDINER), Judith I. – Of Swartz Creek, age 81, died Monday, May 16, 2022 at her residence.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 21, 2022 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Pastor Sarah LaRose-Nettell officiating.
Those desiring may make contributions to the Genesee County Free Medical Clinic.
Visitation 2 p.m. – 8 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home until the time of the service.
Judith was born in Flint, Michigan on March 28, 1941, the daughter of the James and Virginia Gardiner. She was a resident of both the Flint and Lakeland, Florida area.
Judith graduated from Flint Northern High School in 1959. She also went to school at Mott Community College in 1978 to become an RN, received BA in Psychology at University of Michigan-Flint 1978 and BS in Nursing from the University of Michigan-Flint in 1988.
She married James Allen on December 30, 1960 and he preceded her in death on May 22, 2011, after 50 years of marriage.
Judith retired from Hurley Medical Center Intensive Care Unit in 1995. She believed the ICU staff, nurses and doctors were the best of the best. She knew there were miracles in the world and said that she witnessed many in her lifetime.
Her interests were traveling to all 50 states, volunteering at Genesee County Free Medical Clinic, United Methodist Food Bank in Swartz Creek and Hurley Medical Center Surgical Waiting Room.
Surviving are 2 daughters, Linda A. Allen and Diane L. Allen and husband Fred Sisco;
grandson, James Allen Sisco;
brother, James A. and wife Betsy Gardiner;
many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James; father, James D. Gardiner and mother, Virginia Gardiner.
Words to live by: “We are our brother’s keeper” and Matthew 25:35-36. “For I was hungry and you fed me. I was thirsty and you gave me drink. I was a stranger and you welcomed me in. I was naked and you gave me clothing, I was sick and you took care of me, I was in prison and you visited me.”
