HENSON, De - Of Flint, age 91 11/12’s, died Tuesday, June 20, 2023 at Ascension Genesys Hospital.
Funeral service will be held 1pm Monday, June 26, 2023 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint,
Pastor Jim Gosnell officiating.
Those desiring may make contributions to Higher Ground Ministry.
Visitation 2-8pm Sunday and 11am Monday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
De was born in Stoddard County, Missouri on July 20, 1931, the son of the late Leonard V. and Elsie E. Henson, and was a resident of the Flint area since the age of five. On October 2, 2010, De married Cheri Lewis in Flint. He graduated in 1950 from Utley High School and served his apprentice program thru Fisher Body and GMI. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. He enjoyed the outdoors and gardening. He attended Higher Ground Ministry.
Mr. Henson was employed by General Motors, Fisher Body I for 38.3 years, retiring in 1988. He was a member of UAW Local #581.
Surviving are wife, Cheri;
children, Virginia Rooker of Flint, Karen and husband William Schrader of Muskegon, Patricia Lockwood of Flint, Kevin and wife Heather Lewis of Davison, Michele Picka of Hobart, IN, and Traci and husband Jeff Reneaud of Ortonville;
many loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren;
and many wonderful nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by his son, Bryan and wife Kat Henson, sister, Evelyn Jackson; 4 brothers, Norman, Carl (Irene), George (Betty) and L.V. Jr. (Shirley).
