HARRIS, Wilbur Dean – of Davison, MI, age 95, passed away peacefully with loved ones at his side on Friday, August 22, 2025. A Funeral Service will be held at 3 PM Wednesday, August 27, 2025 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Road, Davison, MI 48423; Debbie Carter officiating. Cremation will take place following the service. The family will receive visitors 12-3 PM Wednesday, August 27, 2025 at Allen Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, in Wilbur’s memory.
Wilbur was born in Wagner, South Dakota to Violet (Jordon) and Vern Harris. Wilbur was the 6th of 7 children from their union. After graduating school in Wagner, Wilbur spoke of the many different jobs he had before serving in the U.S. Marine Corps. during the Korean War. During this time Wilbur married the first love of his life, the late Carol Magdelyn Harris (McManus) and shared 28 years together and welcomed four children, David, the late Linda, Brian and Edward (Lana). Wilbur went on to marry the second love of his life, Peggy Jean Harris (Lynn) and together they shared 43 years of marriage, blending the family with Peggy’s sons, Mike (Mary) and Kevin (Stephanie) Umlauf.
Wilbur became a mason and successfully ran his own business for 35 years. Wilbur was an avid outdoorsman, he especially loved to camp, fish and travel and Wilbur shared these loves with Peggy and their family.
Wilbur was a true family man and enjoyed many family gatherings sharing meals, stories, and games of dice.
Wilbur’s family will miss him dearly not only those mentioned above, but also, his grandchildren, the late Davy Harris, Chris Harris, Patrick Umlauf and Kenan Umlauf. Great grandchildren, Christopher, Paige, Colin and great-great granddaughter, Willow. Also, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family would like to extend a very sincere thank you to Debbie and Bill Carter for their support and continued friendship.
