Barbara Ann Walter, age 78 of Byron, passed away on Saturday, February 3, 2024. Funeral services to honor and remember Barb's life will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, February 9, 2024, at Village Bible Church, 410 N. Ann St. Byron, MI 48418. Family will receive friends at the church on Thursday from 4-6 pm and again Friday one hour prior to the service. Burial will be held in Union Plains Cemetery in the Spring.
Barb was born on November 5, 1945, in Tuscaloosa, AL to the late Kenneth and Mary (Burren) Butcher. She attended Byron High School graduating in 1963. She went on to earn her bachelor's degree from Michigan State University. Barb married Dale G. Walter at the First Baptist Church in Howell on June 17, 1967, and together they would raise 2 children.
Prior to her retirement, Barb had worked many years as a Math Teacher at the Byron Middle School, helping to mold young minds. She was a member of Byron Baptist Church where she was very active in Women's groups. Over the years, Barb baked many pies for Carriage Town Ministries. She was very proud of her beautiful flower gardens that she and Dale created throughout their yard and the over 100 rose bushes. She loved spending time with her friends and family, especially all of her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Barb is survived by her 2 children: Jeffrey (Stephanie) Walter, Julie (Jason) LaFlamme; grandchildren: Bryce (Ilde) Walter, Kaleb Walter, Emily Walter, Alexis Bessette, Lauryn Bell, Jaylyn (Tim) Spoden, Joslyn (Luke) Miller, Jaron (Ashley) LaFlamme; 3 great grandchildren: Aleena, Hazel and Beckett Walter and her 4 brothers: Larry (Shana) Butcher, Tom (Jackie) Butcher, Bill (Janice) Butcher, Bob (Kathy) Butcher.
Barb was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dale; great grandson, Liam David Walter and her sister, JoAnn Butcher.
