BEGLEY, Joseph Michael – Of Grand Blanc, age 23, died Thursday, February 24, 2022 at University of Michigan Hospitals.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, March 4, 2022 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 11804 South Saginaw Street, Grand Blanc, Father Joe Krupp officiating.
Burial in Evergreen Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Mott Children's Hospital.
Visitation 11 a.m. – 8 p.m. Thursday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road.
A Scripture Service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home.
Joseph will be at the church from 9 a.m. Friday until the time of the Mass.
Joseph was born in Flint, Michigan on February 22, 1999, the son of Don R. and Michelle R. (Hockin) Begley.
Joseph (Joe) grew up in a very close and loving neighborhood in Grand Blanc, Michigan and graduated from Grand Blanc Schools. He furthered his education through the University of Michigan, and graduated with a Bachelors Degree in 2020. Throughout Joe’s life he enjoyed tubing and water skiing on Lake Leelenau, making friends through his love of playing soccer, and playing video games. Joe was an avid sports fan and had a special passion for cheering on Michigan Wolverines athletics. Joe especially enjoyed attending University of Michigan football games. He obtained front row student section tickets during his undergraduate education, and later was proud to be an official season ticket holder at the “Big House”. In regards to Joe’s career, he was enthusiastic about his employment through Avondale School District. Joe’s incredibly strong work ethic and joy for his work and those around him shined brightly. Most important of all, Joe cherished spending precious time with his loved ones. He had a gift of making everyone he knew smile. Joe notably enjoyed quality time with his family during the holidays, which included time at home and with the Margaritis family. His laughter brought immeasurable joy to all, and he touched the lives of so many. Joe was recently engaged to his high-school sweetheart, Sophia Margaritis, wedding was planned in the summer of 2023.
Joe fought a brave and courageous battle with testicular cancer. His resilience, selflessness, and deep love for those close to him will be eternally remembered.
Surviving are fiancee’, Sophia Margaritis;
parents, Don and Michelle Begley;
grandmother, Shirley Hockin;
many aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Don and Shirley Begley and Thomas Hockin.
