SPENCER-HURD, Shirley L. - Of Flint, age 94, died Thursday, July 28, 2022 at her residence.
Burial in Flint Memorial Park.
Those desiring may make contributions to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Visitation 2 p.m. – 8 p.m. Sunday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road.
A Rosary will be prayed and a Vigil Service will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Shirley was born in Flint, Michigan on October 11, 1927, the daughter of the late Raymond and Lucille (LaDuc) Flanders.
On May 4, 1946 she married James Louis Spencer in Flint.
She was a member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church. She volunteered for the American Red Cross and Flint Police.
She enjoyed restaurants, traveling, socializing and reminiscing.
She loved her family more than anything and was a caregiver until her dying days.
Surviving are children, Sheila Provance, Mark (Maria) Spencer;
grandchildren, Ed (Sarah) Provance, Doreen (Kirk) Boshaw, Jamie Spencer, Kimberly (Gary) Gallagher, Jim III (Anita) Spencer, Christine Spencer, Jennifer (Jeremy) Heilman and Heather (Chris) Burgess;
many great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James; children, Jim Spencer and Debbie Smeala.
