Age 98, of Flushing, formerly of Clio, peacefully passed away on Friday, May 23, 2025, with family by her side. A funeral service will take place at 1:00 pm on Friday, May 30, 2025. Rev. Daniel Botsford to officiate with burial to follow at Flint Memorial Park. Family will be present to receive friends from 11:00 am until the time of the service at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be considered to the Dementia Society of America. Expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family on Helen’s tribute wall at martinfuneralhome.com.
Helen Marie Palmer was born on November 30, 1926, in Genesee, Michigan, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard and Erma (Moore) Potter. Educated locally, Helen attended Mt. Morris High School. She met, fell in love with, and married the love of her life, Lee Roy Palmer. Their marriage would be blessed with six beautiful children. Sadly, Lee preceded Helen in passing in 1988. Caring for her children was her pride and joy, and she loved creating new memories with her family. One of her favorite memories was attending Crossroads Village with her family every year.
In her free time, she enjoyed planting flowers in the garden, as well as enjoying some of her favorite television programs, especially Perry Mason and NASCAR (Go Jeff Gordon!). She also lived a very social lifestyle, being a member of many groups. She was a longtime member of the American Legion Post 64, and she was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star until 2023. Her love extended past her own children, as she would donate much of her time to the Shriners Hospitals for Children.
Left to cherish her memory are her two sons: David Palmer, Jeffrey Palmer; her daughter: Carol Fritz; her two sisters: Francis Palmer, Jane Bradley; as well as many beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents: Richard and Erma Potter; her two sons: Rick Palmer, Duane Palmer; and her daughter: Linda Wales. |
