PINTACURA, Thomas Samuel “Mr. P” – Of Flint, 77, died Sunday, November 8, 2020 at “home” surrounded by the love of his family after a long and courageous battle against Alzheimer’s Disease. Tom was born on April 6, 1943 to Jack and Anna (Caleca) Pintacura. Tom was the first of 29 grandchildren born to Sicilian-American immigrants Pietro and Brigida Caleca while his father was overseas fighting in World War II. Tom was the unquestioned leader of this new generation and devoted his life to the well-being of his family. Tom was given numerous responsibilities at a very young age and always put family first his entire life earning their respect and admiration.

Tom graduated from Flint Northern High School in 1961 where he excelled as an honor student and standout athlete. Tom continued his education graduating from Ball State University in 1965 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. He also later earned his Master’s Degree from Eastern Michigan University. Tom came back to Flint where he was selected by the late Charles Stewart Mott and Frank J. Manley Sr. to become one of the Flint School’s famed Community School Directors. Tom was a lifelong Viking and touched the lives of thousands of students who affectionally knew him as “Mr. P”. Tom was also instrumental in the Flint Olympian and CANUSA Games, serving as its chairman in 1976.

However, Tom’s greatest accomplishments were his family. He married Terri (Gerber) Willett and was blessed with two wonderful children, Tommy II and Tracey. Although Tom and Terri separated, they remained best friends and she and his daughter, Tracey, remained at his side caring for him to the end. Tom is survived by his daughter Tracey (J.J.) Jarrett, grandchildren Kasey and Dylan Jarrett. Terri Willet. Brother Peter (Diann) and sister Kris Pintacura. Aunts, Rosina Manley and Mary Jean Maxwell.
