George Allen Salavics, 76 of Swartz Creek, Michigan passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on February 16, 2025.
George was born on June 21, 1948 in Flint, Mi. At the age of 20 George volunteered to defend our country and his strength and hard-working spirit never stopped. An Army Veteran, GM retiree, and car mechanic of over 30 years. George was always working on family and friends' cars to lend a helping hand or in later years willing to listen to what was going on and tell you all the possible things it could be. George had a love for cars, and that love didn’t stop there, George most recently was a service driver at a car dealership a few days a week to keep him out and about and he loved still being around cars.
George is described by his family and friends as the hardest worker, never without a joke … that we call “George Jokes” generous, kind, always smiling and willing to help anyone.
George leaves behind his beloved wife of 38 years Mary Darnell, their children Ashley and Nathan (Stephanie). His eldest children Steve (Denise) and Carri. One thing George was most proud of was his children.
George was deeply loved and adored by his grandchildren: Eathen, Caleb, Aden, Scarlet, Jasmine, Tyler and Lucy. George’s brothers Jim (Lane) & Joe (Shirley) his dear sister-in-law Lana Gail, cherished niece's and nephew's, friends and colleagues, George never met a stranger for very long. George was proceeded in death by his parents Joseph Salavics & Dorothy Bird, mother and father-in-law Cecil and Mary Lou Corkren, his brother Johnny, his dear brother-in-law John and beloved nephew Cameron that we know were all waiting to greet him at the pearly gates.
George was such a strong man in spirit and strength. He was a fighter until the very end and went out on his own terms after all, peacefully listening to his favorite music, surrounded by his family. While his family is filled with deep sadness, they feel a sense of peace knowing George is no longer in any pain and is at peace, home with our Lord. Please continue to pray for his family to have George like strength in the days ahead.
George will be laid to rest in eternal peace on Friday February 21st.
Visitation and Funeral will be held at Swartz Funeral Home - 1225 W. Hill Rd. Flint, MI 48507 Visitation will be held on Thursday February 20th 5pm - 8pm & Friday February 21st 12pm - 3pm with Funeral following at 3pm, Elder Todd Jones officiating.
