PHELPS, Connie L. – of Clio, age 86, died peacefully on Saturday, January 4, 2025, at Cranberry Park of Clio Transitional Care. Funeral services will be held at 11AM Friday, January 10, 2025, at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio. Pastor Sarah Elliott officiating. Burial to follow in Sunset Hills Cemetery. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Thursday from 3PM until 8PM, and on Friday from 10AM until the time of service at 11AM. Memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children.


Connie was born August 29, 1938, in Bay City, Michigan, to the late William and Eva (Harrison) Mason. She graduated from Midland High School in 1956 and went on to earn her bachelor’s degree in education from Central Michigan University in 1960. Connie married the love of her life, Loren "Dick" Phelps, on August 29, 1959, in Midland. Her passion for teaching touched the lives of countless students over the years. She began her career at Sanford Elementary, then continued her service at Clio Area Schools, and ultimately retired from Westwood Heights in Flint. A longtime member of Bethany United Methodist Church in Clio, Connie found joy in sewing, reading, scrapbooking, and crafting. She also enjoyed spending time on the computer and watching her favorite TV shows. Connie and Dick shared a love for travel, with their unforgettable cruises to Alaska being a highlight, alongside their enjoyable camping trips over the years that added to their cherished memories. Known for her charismatic personality, she was a natural conversationalist that had a gift for connecting with others and was beloved by everyone she met. Above all, Connie treasured her role as a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Her legacy of love, kindness, and joy will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.


Surviving are: Husband, Dick Phelps; Son, Rick (Diana) Phelps; Daughter, Linda (Joe) Katrinic Jr.; Grandchildren: Joey Katrinic, and Lauren Phelps; Many nieces, nephews, other loving family members and dear friends. Connie was also preceded in death by her brother, Bob Mason.
