John Steve Pajtas

Age 94 Years of Owosso passed away peacefully on July 7, 2025, at Pleasant View.

A mass of Christian Burial will be held 11am on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Fr. Michael O'Brien officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Nelson-House Funeral Home on Friday, July 11, 2025 from 2 PM to 8 PM with a Rosary at 7 PM.

John was born January 16, 1931 in Flushing, the son of John and Mary (Patoprsty) Pajtas.

He graduated from Mary Crapo High School, Swartz Creek, in the graduating class of 1949. Shortly after graduation he was drafted into The United States Army and proudly served during the Korean War, and was awarded a Purple Heart. Upon returning from the Service, John attended Michigan State University where he took agricultural classes, and he was a dairy farmer and cash crop farmer for over 31 years.

John was a man of his faith and served the Lord through his church community at St. Joseph Catholic Church. He was involved with the community through various groups. He was a past Caledonia Township Supervisor, Chairman of Caledonia Township planning and zoning committee, Realtor-Associate with Don Horton & Son Realtors for 9 years, Vice-President and past member of Shiawassee County Board of Realtors, Realtor-Associate of the year in 1986, Past-President and member of Owosso Kiwanis Club and had perfect attendance for over 20 years, member of Michigan Farm Bureau, Past-President of Shiawassee County Farm Bureau, Past-Chairman of Michigan Farm Bureau Soybean Advisory Committee, Past Vice-Chairman of Soybean Promotion Committee of Michigan, planned the Shiawassee Farm-City Dinner for 35 years, Distinguished Service to Agriculture Recognition in 2024, member of Knights of Columbus, Past President and life member of Shiawassee Dog and Gun Club, Shiawassee County Clerk from 1989-2000, Michigan Association of County Clerks, United County Officers Association, Shiawassee County Republican Executive Committee, Owosso-Corunna Area Chamber of Commerce, life member of Owosso VFW Post 9455, Friends of Hospice, Shiawassee County Community Mental Health Authority Board, County Commissioner, Board of Directors of Shiawassee County Historical Society, Shiawassee County Veteran Affairs, and Shiawassee Community Health Board.

He married his forever sweetheart, Sally Sabo, in 1957 and had spent over 67 loving years together before her passing in April of 2025.

John is survived by his children, John S. Pajtas Jr.; Linda (John) Pappas; Bethany (Bart) Bittinger; Nadine Pajtas; and Dennis (Lisa) Pajtas. He was a proud grandfather to John F. (Cassie) Pajtas, Kelli (James) Thompson and Lindley (Jordan) Dooge; Jason (Julie) Pappas, Matthew Pappas and Gregory Pappas; Colleen (Mike) Anders and Jeffrey Bupp; Justine (Dirk) Boon, Austin (Melissa) Fisher and Alaina Fisher; Ashley Pajtas and Christopher Pajtas; as well as 12 great-grandchildren (with two more on the way). He is also survived by his sister, Margaret (Richard) Waters; many step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and numerous other loving family and friends.

He was predeceased by his wife, Sally Pajtas, parents, brothers Fred (Phyllis) Pajtas, George (Bernice) Pajtas, Robert (Sharleen) Pajtas, and infant sister Barbara Jean Pajtas.

Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Joseph Catholic Church, Friends of Corunna Historical Village or charity of choice.
