Voakes, Sally Lou - Age 84, of Swartz Creek, passed away. Tuesday, April 19, 2022. A Memorial Service will be at Sharp Funeral Home in Swartz Creek on April 30, 2022 at 10:00 AM. Visitation will be held on April 29, 2022 between 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM at Sharp Funeral Home.
Sally was born on January 7, 1938 in Flint to Raymond and Ona (Derry) Oakley. Sally graduated from Bendle High School in Burton in 1956. She married Kenneth L. Voakes on January 21, 1956 and moved to Flint to start their family. She worked at Genesee Bank and Montgomery Ward early in her career. In 1965, Kenneth and Sally moved to Swartz Creek where they raised their 5 children. Sally began her 28-year management career at Sports Creek Raceway in 1986. Sally loved spending time with her family and grandchildren.
Sally is survived by her children Joyce (Blair) Samuelson of Flint, MI, Joseph (Karen) Voakes of Naperville IL, and James (Andrea) Voakes of Mount Pleasant, SC, several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and her sister, Nan'C Gross.
Sally was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Kenneth Voakes, and sons Kenneth Voakes, Jr., and William Voakes. Online tributes may be shared at www.sharpfuneralhome.com |
