FOUS, EILEEN C.– Of Flint, age 98, died peacefully Friday, June 22, 2018 at The Oaks at Woodfield, Grand Blanc.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Thursday, June 28, 2018
at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, 1227 East Bristol Road, Burton,
Father Steve Anderson officiating.
Burial in New Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
Those desiring may make contributions to Our Lady of Victory Homes of Charity or Catholic Charities of Genesee County.
Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, at Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint. A Prayer Service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Visitation at the church from 10:30 a.m. Thursday until the time of the Mass.
Eileen Cecilia McKeon Fous was born April 20, 1920 at home on the now McKeon Centennial Farm in Linden, Michigan. She graduated from Fenton High School in 1938. Shortly after high school Eileen worked at Chevrolet as a Comptometer Operator. She married Robert “Bob” Fous in Asheville, NC August 10, 1943. In March of 1947 she and Bob moved to their home on Clinton Street with new born Susan. In December, 1959 Eileen welcomed Tom completing her family. Eileen was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker who had avid interests in gardening, cooking and sewing. She and Bob were members of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church for 71 years where Eileen volunteered on a weekly basis. She also served as a Genesee County election official for many years, was a Girl Scout Leader and worked in retail when the South Flint Plaza was in its heyday. Eileen and family travelled extensively to all 48 of the contiguous States, much of Canada and a part of Mexico. In later life, Eileen and Bob wintered in St. Petersburg, Florida.
Many will remember Eileen as a devoted woman who always put the needs and wellbeing of her husband, children, family members and friends before her own. Eileen is preceded in death by Robert her husband of 73 years.
Left to cherish her memories are daughter Susan Fous of Batavia, IL; son Tom (Kim) Fous of Pawleys Island, South Carolina; granddaughter Ansley (Jordan) Smith, of Los Angeles, California and many family members and friends.
The family wishes to extend special appreciation to the many family members and friends who visited Eileen while she was a resident at The Oaks. And special thanks for the kind and loving care provided to Eileen by the staffs of Heartland Hospice and The Oaks.
