GREER, Freeman Thompson Jr. – of Flint, MI, age 57, passed away on Saturday, January 9, 2021 at his residence. A Private Funeral Service will be held at Allen Funeral Home and burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to charity of your choice in Freeman’s name.
Freeman was born in Grayling, MI on October 29, 1963, the son of the late Freeman and Helen (McQueen) Greer. He married Renee Aube on March 23, 1984. Freeman received his Master of Architecture from Lawrence Technological University. He was a member of the American Institute of Architects - Flint and was a past President. Freeman was recognized by the Michigan State Historic Preservation office as a Historic Architect. He was the architect for several projects throughout Michigan, but he was passionate about the city of Flint and its history. His notable projects included the Flint Vehicle City arches, First Street Lofts, renovating the Stockton House and establishing the non-profit museum Stockton Center at Spring Grove. He was a driven professional with an unmatched work ethic. Freeman was Past Worshipful Master of Welfare Lodge 517 and a Past Associate Grand Guardian of Michigan Job’s Daughters. He enjoyed playing cards with his friends, fishing, reading, and researching Civil War history. He made it a priority to schedule trips and events to bring his family together. Family was everything to him and he loved his family with all of his heart.
Freeman is survived by his wife, Renee; 4 daughters, Madalyn (Sean Loewen), Natalie, Angela and Briahna; sister, Jody Greer; 20 nieces and nephews; 29 great-nieces and nephews; in-laws, Steve (Rozie) Aube, Noreen (Rick) Mahon, Bev (Nick) Cook, Nate Aube and Amy Marsh; many other loving family and friends. He was preceded in death by his niece, Sara; brother-in-law, Steve Aube; sister-in-law, LuAnne Johns.
