Ronald James Johnson
May 17, 1946 - November 6, 2023

"What you leave behind is not what is engraved in stone monuments, but what is woven into the lives of others" - Pericles.

Ron Johnson left this life on November 6, 2023, and while his body was broken, he left a rich tapestry of his life woven into the lives of countless others. He loved life, had an insatiable curiosity, had a love of laughter, was a voracious reader, and had an endless supply of kindness and compassion. He was a true gentleman, a man of unquestionable integrity and ethics.

As a youth, Ron was active in George G. Shaw Chapter, Order of DeMolay, in Manistique, Michigan. He served as the Chapter's third Master Councilor, was a Representative DeMolay, and in 2013, he became a member of the Legion of Honor. Ron always gave DeMolay credit for shaping the principles that would carry him through life.

He continued his Masonic journey as an adult. He was raised in Fidelity Lodge No. 513 in 1979. When his professional life took him to Saginaw, Michigan, he held dual membership with Salina Lodge. He served Salina Lodge as Worshipful Master in 1985. After his marriage to Jeannie and a move to the Genesee County area, Ron dropped his dual memberships and became a member of Grand Blanc Lodge #571.

With his daughters Sue and Amy, Ron became active in Job's Daughters, serving the Bethel in Saginaw, then serving the state of Michigan as Associate Grand Guardian in 1988-89. In 2012-13, he served Job's Daughters International. Whether he was traveling in Michigan or across the world, Ron always treated everyone with respect and kindness, and his "dad" jokes.

His forty plus years of involvement in Job's Daughters led to his involvement in Eastern Stars, where he attained life member status. He was serving as Worthy Patron of Grand Blanc Chapter #507 at the time of his death.

He was a longtime volunteer with Habitat for Humanity, helping to build affordable housing so their owners could build a better life. He was quick to lend a hand to those in need, an ear or shoulder to those in distress, and a smile to all. Ron believed that we were all put here to serve and care for each other. His life reflected that belief.

Ron is survived by Jeannie, his wife of 36 years, his daughters Sue Gonzalez and Amy (Paul) Clolinger, sister-in-law Debbie Link, grandsons Nicholas and Jacob Gonzalez and Cameron Clolinger and extended family members Peter and Wendy Scholz, goddaughter Jordan (Jeff) Whyte, Raquell Rykert, and Domonique (Matt) Call. Left to cherish his memory are siblings Rusty (Jean) Johnson, Bob (Barbara) Johnson, Shirlee (Tom) Plackowski, and cousin Surann Duckworth. He was preceded in death by his parents Clarence and Shirley Johnson, and his in-laws, Don, and Ruth Link.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Ron's memory can be made to the Michigan Masonic Charitable Foundation, Genesee County Habitat for Humanity, or a charity of your choice.

"Death ends a life...not a love." The love for this man will reside in the hearts of many, for years to come.
