Shirley May Marx, age 83, of Ovid, Michigan, passed away Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at Ovid Healthcare Center, Ovid, MI.
Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes - Houghton Chapel, Ovid, Michigan, at 12:00 P.M. on Monday, January 20, 2025, with Pastor Dave Stanton officiating. Burial will take place at Fairfield Township Cemetery. Visitation will held from 11:00 A.M. until the time of service at the funeral home.
Shirley was born in Flint, Michigan on April 15, 1941, the daughter of Bruce Edward and Helen Mary (Fitch) Nippa. She graduated from Hoover High School, Flint, Michigan in 1960. On August 14, 1965, Shirley married James Joseph Marx in Flint, Michigan. They were married thirty-eight years prior to his passing on October 2, 2003. Our mother had three things she loved most in life: her friends and family, her beloved Detroit Tigers, and her church family at Carland-Zion Brethren in Christ Church.
Shirley is survived by her daughters: Beth (Dale) Ackley of Flint, MI; and Stacey (Michael) Morton of Owosso, MI; six grandchildren: David (Caitlin) Morton, Jeremiah Morton, Jacob Morton, Gabby (Chris) Miller, Tiffany Ackley, and Aaron Ackley; and two great-grandchildren: Paisley and Nolan. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband James, and sister Helen Karl. The family would like to thank Heart to Heart Hospice, in particular her caregiver Jen, and her RN case manager Lindsey.
