David E. Dumler, age 86 of Harrison, passed away at his home on Monday, January 4, 2021. David was born the son of the late Carl and Gwendolyn (Hall) Dumler on December 12, 1934 in Flint. He served his Country in the U.S. Army from 1955 to 1958. David was united in marriage to his beloved Gay E. Smith on May 30, 1959. They lived in Flushing, and David worked as a Beverage Salesman for Tom Ryan Distributing in Flint. After David retired they split their time between Harrison, Michigan and Estero, Florida. An avid sportsman, David was passionate about hunting and fishing. He turned that passion into part-time work across several fishing tackle shops, sharing his knowledge and inspiring other sports-minded patrons. Most of all, David loved spending time with family and friends, arriving at many gatherings with libations that would delight all. The common descriptors that emerge from all who had the honor of knowing “Big D” are: witty, funny, like-a-father to me, dependable, strong, proper, polite, an inspiration, great guy, wonderful man, best husband/father/grandfather ever, lived life to the fullest, had a great retirement, and will always be a part of us. It has been said that people die, relationships do not. David’s legacy will live forever in all of our hearts.
David is survived by his wife Gay; children Kim (Joe) Enos-Osterwyk of Higgins Lake and Jeff (Kelly) Dumler of Wolverine Lake; three grandchildren, Jarred (Alison) Enos, Joshua Enos and Allison Dumler; a great grandchild Blair Enos. David had two sisters with one predeceasing him.
In keeping with David’s wishes cremation has taken place with a Celebration of His Life to be held at a later date.
