WHITNEY, Sally Elizabeth (Ferguson) – of Flint, MI, age 74, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, November 28, 2024. A Funeral Service will be held 11 AM Thursday, December 5, 2024 at Davison Free Methodist Church, 502 Church Street, Davison, MI 48423; Pastor Shane Bengry officiating. Interment immediately following the service in Tanner Cemetery. The family will receive visitors 11 AM-7 PM Wednesday, December 4, 2024 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Road, Davison, MI 48423 and 10-11 AM Thursday, December 5, 2024 at Davison Free Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Davison Livestock Club, in Sally’s memory.
Sally was born in Flint, MI on November 12, 1950, daughter of the late Kenneth and Rosemarie (Quaderer) Ferguson. On September 18, 1973, she married Arthur “Bud” Whitney III and he preceded her in death on June 27, 2016. Sally owned Sally’s Arts and Crafts, retiring in 2000, to then begin Sally’s Long Arm Quilting. Sally was hard-working, loyal, and always had a smile for everyone she met. She was best known for her gardening, canning, quilting, home cooked meals, a caregiver, and her deep faith. Family was everything to her. She never missed one of her grandchildren’s sporting events like football and tennis, but especially loved traveling for baseball in the summer.
Sally is survived by her daughter, Lynne (Mike) Schanick; step-son, Ted (Tina) Whitney; 6 grandchildren, Brendan Schanick, Emily Schanick, Evan Schanick, Luke Whitney, Zac Whitney and Nina Whitney; 10 siblings, MaryLou (Charles) McCarter, Charles (Linda) Ferguson, Kenneth Ferguson, Ann Ferguson, Thomas (Joanne) Ferguson, Richard (Susie) Ferguson, James (Tammy) Ferguson, Nancy (Phil) Kus, Kathryn Ashworth and Lynne (Ken) Travis; brother-in-law, Steve Scharrer; sister-in-law, Connie Hallwood; close family friend, Kathy Schupp; many other loving family members and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Rosemarie Ferguson; husband, Arthur “Bud” Whitney III; grandson, Ryan Whitney; 3 sisters, Genevieve Scharrer, Rosemarie Ferguson and Theresa Ferguson; 2 brothers-in-law, Don Ashworth and Wayne Ellis.
