Turner, Richard Dean of Flushing, age 88, died Wednesday, February 21, 2024, at Living Joy Assisted Living. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Rossell Funeral Home. Pastor Gregory Timmons will officiate. A private burial will be at Clayton Cemetery. Visitation will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home until the time of the service at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wings of Mercy or Alzheimer’s Association.


Richard was born in Flint, Michigan on April 29, 1935, the son of Peter and Eva (Harrison) Turner. He married Donna Valley in 1955. She preceded him in death in 1991. He later married JoAnn Browning on May 2, 1998. Richard retired from General Motors as a Tool and Die Supervisor at Chevy Manufacturing. He then worked for TRW Manufacturing as an Engineer. Richard had his pilot’s license and loved flying his plane. Music was big part of his life and he enjoyed playing the piano. Richard was a faithful member of Hope United Methodist Church where he sang in the choir.


Richard is survived by his wife, JoAnn; children, Richard and wife Stephanie Turner, Diana and husband Joe Mitchell, Leanna and husband Todd Cussans; stepchildren, Lance and wife Tammi Browning, Susan and husband Jim Gough. Lori and husband David Walker, Guy and wife Tammy Browning; 11 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Donna and his parents.
