With heavy hearts, the family of Karen Frances (Byrnes) Sturdy of Flushing, age 71, share the news of her sudden passing on April 12, 2022. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, April 16, 2022, at Rossell Funeral Home. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. Saturday until the time of the service at 11 a.m. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Karen was born in Flint, Michigan on April 2, 1951, the daughter of Joseph and Lois (Doyle) Byrnes. She married Vernon Sturdy on August 4, 2001. She was a hard worker and began working at General Motors in Flint and later retired from Lake Orion in 2008, after 35 years. She fought a courageous battle with cancer for 13 years, never complaining and always upbeat and optimistic. She loved shopping, cooking and making all the holidays special for her family. Karen was truly one of a kind and leaves a hole in the hearts of all who loved her.
She is the beloved wife of Vern; mother of Christy Caputo; stepmother of Katie Hill. She adored her grandsons, Aiden Olah and Ben Hill. Karen was dearly loved by her special aunt, Annette Byrnes and will be deeply missed by all her cousins both in United States and Canada and her dear friends.
