SCHIPPER, Clarissa Louise – of Clio, age 85, died Sunday, September 25, 2022 at Maple Woods Manor. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, October 1, 2022 at Bethany United Methodist Church. Pastor Kayla Roosa officiating. The family will receive visitors on Friday, September 30, 2022 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio and from 10:00 AM until the time of service on Saturday at the church. Memorial contributions can be made to the Bethany United Methodist Church.
Cris was born October 1, 1936 in Sparta, Michigan to the late John and Clarissa (Dago) Lauffer. She grew up in Sparta, Michigan and graduated from Sparta High School with the class of 1954. Cris went on to Western Michigan University where she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Teaching and a minor in Music. She met the love of her life, William R. Schipper at Western Michigan University and they were married June 13, 1959. He preceded her in death on May 8, 2021. Prior to her retirement in 1997, Cris worked as a Teacher for the Clio Area Schools in the Kindergarten and 1st grade rooms. She was a member of the Bethany United Methodist Church where she was active in the choir, bell choir, the Methodist Women’s group, and played piano at the church. Cris was a past President and charter member of the Genesee Lioness Club, danced at the Clio Senior Center, and a member of the Tails a Wagon Camping Club. She and Bill enjoyed travelling and visited many states and countries each year. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, crafts, music, and was an avid reader. However, her greatest joy in life was volunteering in her grandchildren’s classrooms, baking day with them, and playing games with all of her grandchildren.
Surviving are: Daughter, Christine (Bob) Flynn; Daughter in law, Joan Schipper; Grandchildren, Brian (Carrie) Flynn, Erin (Courtney) Flynn, Lori (Austen) Shoup, Allisanne Schipper, Michelle Schipper; Brother, Bill (Darlene) Lauffer; Sister in law, Carol Lauffer; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her Parents; Husband, William Schipper; Son, William Schipper Jr; Brother, John Lauffer; Brother in law, Don Schipper.
