CERVINI, Adrian A. – Born on July 21, 1928, age 93, died Thursday, August 12, 2021.

Cremation has taken place.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Adrian enjoyed his life, not only at his Pine Lake residence for the past 40+ years, but deeply believed that “Once a Marine, Always A Marine” and that’s how he lived his life. He joined the Marines in 1946, near the end of WWII and was called back for the Korean War, in which he returned as a “Survivor of the Chosen Few”. Since then he served all veterans by being on the Legislative Committee of the National Marine Corps League, member of the Commanders Group State of Michigan, past Department Commandant, and past Detachment Commandant, plus he served on the Advisory Committee responsible for the creation of Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan; where he continued his service by performing the Marine Honor/Color Guard duties at GLNC thru April, 2021.

He served on the Board of Trustees of Genesee County Toys-For-Tots organization, and has been an active supporter for the past 50+years.

Adrian having quit school at 16, to join the Marines, he received his honorary high school diploma in 2019 from Linden High School.

Surviving are daughter, Mary (Paul) LaBonte;

grandson, Adrian (Stephanie) Cervini, III;

sister, Agnes Cervini;

granddaughter, Kristen LaBonte;

great-granddaughter, MaKenzie Cervini; and blended family survivors, Karl (Karen) Retzloff, Tim (Rick) Retzloff and Jennifer Troutt;

brother-in-law, Ralph Lewis;
many other nieces and nephews.

Adrian was preceded in death by his parents, Pietro and Lucia Cervini; wife, Carla Ann (Retzloff) Cervini; son, Adrian Cervini, II; brothers, Victor and Andrew; sisters, Jenny and Ann; step-children, Christopher (Alice) Retzloff and Tamara Retzloff.

A special thank you to Adrian’s neighbors and his Marine Corps comrades, who stepped up to assist Adrian in so many ways; and a very special thank you goes to Adrian’s friend, neighbor, and God-given Angel, Marilyn Hansen, who has been Adrian’s companion and caregiver…Thank You So Very Much.

Memorial contributions may be given to St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Fenton, MI.
