LEWIS (HUNT), MELITA G. – Of Flint, age 78, died Saturday, November 21, 2020 at her residence.
A private funeral service will be held at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Dr. Max B. Hayden officiating.
A Celebration of Life will take place this summer, dates will be announced later.
Cremation will take place following the service.
Due to Covid-19 and government regulations, only 25 people will be allowed in the chapel at one time. Mask, group capacity and distancing guidelines must be practiced.
Inurnment of cremains in the Columbarium at Great Lakes National Cemetery.
Melita was born on July 24, 1942 in Flint, Michigan, the daughter of Ford Henry and Marla Ellen (Johnson) Hunt.
In 1963 she married Ralph Lewis and both enjoyed their lifetime watching Katrina blossom and develop into the fine successful lady that she is today.
She also enjoyed grandsons, Andrew and Nicholas, after they came into the world and watched them grow into fine young men.
Melita retired from C/A School District after having served 22 years in various Head Start positions, primarily at the Woodland School.
She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and quilting in her spare time, using her talents to provide blankets to the homeless.
She and Ralph enjoyed traveling the states and spending their winters in Tucson, AZ.
Surviving are husband, Ralph;
daughter, Katrina Brunette;
grandsons, Andrew and Nicholas Brunette;
brother-in-law, Adrian Cervini; plus
many nieces and nephews.
Melita was preceded in death by her dad, Ford Hunt, in October 1990; mother, Marla Hunt, in October, 2012; also her sisters, Carla Ann Cervini, in April 2008 and Lucinda Eddy, in July 2016.
