Joseph was born in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada on December 26, 1928, son of the late Edouard and Celina (Villeneuve) Masson. He proudly served in the Royal Canadian Army Reserve, RCCS. After emigrating to the United States, Joseph served in the U.S. Army during WWII from 1954-1956. He owned and operated a Barber Shop in Burton. Joe’s family attempted to get him to retire, but he enjoyed working with people too much. During a difficult time in his career where Joe suffered heart issues, fellow Barbers stepped up to support Joe and helped save his business. Joseph married Yvonne (Nadeau) Burns on February 12, 1995. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, where he sang in the choir and met Yvonne. Joseph was also a member of the Davison Knights of Columbus Bishop Albers Council 4090 and the Ardon F. Dubie Fourth Degree Assembly 0523, a life member of the Davison VFW Post #4087 and an active member of the American Barber Association of Michigan and the Genesee Barbers Association. He enjoyed sharing his humor with his neighbors (His extended family) in the driveway at home.
Joseph is survived by his wife of 27 years, Yvonne Masson; 3 children, Robert Masson, Jeanne (Mark) Mitchell and Annette Searson; 4 grandchildren, John Masson II, Rhiannah Steinman, Laban Searson, and Elizabeth Mitchell; many other loving family members and dear friends in the choir at church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edouard and Celina Masson; son, John Masson; daughter, Helen Berry; 6 siblings, Bill Masson, Leonard Masson, Cecile Massia, Audrey Tremblett, Antoinette Robillard and John Masson.
