SCHABEL, Joan Maxine – Of Grand Blanc, age 87, died Sunday, January 2, 2022 at Ascension Genesys Hospital.
Funeral service will be held 12 Noon Saturday, January 8, 2022 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint, Michigan.
Visitation 2-8pm Friday and 10am Saturday until the time of the serice at the funeral home.
Burial in Evergreen Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the family.
Joan was born in Flint, Michigan on January 1, 1935, the daughter of the late Gerald and Thelma (Vincent) Clare. She married Duane Schabel on October 2, 1954 in Flint and he preceded her in death on May 10, 1993. Joan was employed at AC Spark Plug for nearly 40 years, retiring in 1993. She was a member of New Road Baptist Church for many years. She enjoyed playing cards, especially Euchre and Hand and Foot; shopping, traveling and camping. Above all else, she loved her family.
Surviving are children, David (Peggy), Lori and Janine (Al);
grandchildren, Kyle, Samantha, Jacob, Makenzie, Brett and Cheryl;
And great-grandchildren, Greylee and Caleb.
She was preceded in death by sister, Marcella and best friend, Joyce Deal in 2019.
