KANAAR, James Bruce - Age 67, of Swartz Creek, died Monday, September 25, 2017. Services will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, September 30, 2017 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Saturday from 11:00 AM until the time of the service. James was born September 22, 1950, the son of Ralph and Naomi "June" (Perkins) Kanaar. He was a 1969 graduate of Swartz Creek High School. He married Bethany I. Shepherd July 23, 1971 in Flint. He had resided in Swartz Creek since 2004 coming from Durand. James retired in 1999 from GM Chevrolet after 30 years of service. He was a member of the Frankenmuth Wood Carver's Guild.
Surviving are: his wife, Bethany; son, John (Rebecca) Kanaar of Hudsonville; daughter, Amy (Jeremy) Cherry of Durand; grandson, Anakin; brothers, Ralph Kanaar of the Upper Peninsula and Thomas Partridge of Ypsilanti; and several nieces and nephews.
