STATHOPOULOS, Aspasia (Patsy) – Of Flint, age 94, fell asleep in the Lord on Saturday, April 29, 2017 at Serenity House Assisted Living.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 4, 2017 at St. Nicholas Orthodox Church 2143 South Center Road, Burton, MI 48519, Father Matthew-Peter Butrie officiating.

Burial in Evergreen Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Nicholas Orthodox Church Memorial Fund.

Visitation 3-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road. A Parastas Service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Stathopoulos will be at the church from 10 a.m. Thursday until the time of the service.

Aspasia was born in Bouf, Macedonia on September 26, 1922, the daughter of the late Lazoros and Katherina (Valcheff)Panoff. She immigrated along with her sister to Windsor Ontario, Canada from Bouf, Macedonia in the late 1940’s. She enjoyed working and was voted top waitress at the Top Hat Supper Club in Windsor, where she enjoyed meeting various Hollywood and entertainment celebrities.

She was a longtime member of St. Nicholas Orthodox Church.

Aspasia volunteered at the International Institute and was instrumental in the preparation of many delicious meals.

She was awarded Macedonian of the Year in 1991.

Aspasia was a Prosphora (Holy) bread maker for St. Nicholas Orthodox Church for many years.

She contributed and enjoyed cooking and being in the kitchen for St. Nicholas Orthodox Church for numerous festivals.

Aspasia was a baker for St. Catherine League.

Surviving are sister, Mitra (Mary) Tsotsos of Windsor, Ontario;

brother, Angelo and wife Christine Panoff;

nieces and nephews, Paul (Kelly) Panoff,
Katherine (Deacon Kerry) Gonser,
Steve (Gail) Panoff,
Philip Tsotsos,
Michael (Janice) Panoff,
Christopher (Krista) Panoff and
Thomas (Christina) Panoff;

great-nieces and nephews, Katherine, Caroline, Colin, Alexander, Noah, Joseph, Avery, Rachel, Jason, Olivia, Angela, Elizabeth and Andrew.

She was preceded in death by daughter, Christine Marie Stathopoulos; brother, Simeon (Sam) and sister-in-law, Thomais Panoff; brother, John Panoff and brother-in-law, Stavro Tsotsos.

A special thanks to the caregivers from Heart to Heart Hospice, especially Carrie Scott, Denise and Amanda. The family would also like to thank Serenity House of Flint Township, especially Mary O., Keri, Meaghan, Emily, Rachel, April, Jeri and Chasity for all the compassionate care they gave Patsy.
