Sarah Jean Mawer, 79, of Lapeer, died on Friday, May 24, 2019.
Sarah was born June 1, 1939 in North Branch to Leonard and Myrtle (Ulinger) McTaggart. She graduated from North Branch High School, class of 1957. Sarah spent her whole life caring for and raising her family. She was a wonderful cook and baked the most delicious cookies, cakes and pies. Sarah was absolutely passionate about playing any kind of cards – euchre and pinochle were favorites.
Sarah is survived by her beloved children: Greg (Kim) Mawer of Byron, John (Laura) Mawer of Glenview, IL, Anna (Jim) Kage of Lapeer and James (Cindy) Mawer of Vancouver, WA; ten grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; one great-great grandbaby; siblings: Berta (Wally) Sontag of Saratoga Springs, NY and David (LaVerna) McTaggart of Crossville, TN; sister-in-law, Bonnie McTaggart of Imlay City. Sarah was preceded in death by her husband, John Mawer in 2004; sister, Helen McTaggart; brother, John McTaggart and her aforementioned parents.
Visitation will be from 4-8PM Monday, May 27, 2019 at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Lapeer. Sarah’s funeral service will be at 11AM Tuesday, May 28, 2019 at Muir Brothers. Sarah’s family will receive friends from 10-11AM the morning of the service. Sarah will be buried beside her beloved husband John in the Florida National Military Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
