SHINABARGER, Barbara – of Davison, age 84, passed away Sunday, June 7, 2026, at Whispering Pines in Lapeer with her loving family by her side. A Funeral Service will be held 1 PM Friday, June 12, 2026, at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison, MI 48423; Joe Francis officiating. Interment will be in Davison Cemetery following the service. The family will welcome visitors from 12-7 PM on Thursday, June 11, 2026. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the service on Friday.
Barbara was born in Flint, MI on January 17, 1942, the daughter of the late Frank and Martha (Bissonnette) Watson. She started dating the love of her life when she was just 14 years of age, Jim Shinabarger. They married on June 11, 1960, and together they shared many wonderful years. Jim survives her. Barbara dedicated much of her career as a Licensed Practical Nurse, providing compassionate care to others at Lapeer Hospital and Briarwood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She later enjoyed serving her community as a driver for Your Ride in Otisville. A woman of many talents and interests, Barbara loved traveling, especially her trips to Arizona and other destinations. She was exceptionally creative and found great joy in crafting, making beautiful keepsakes, and participating in card clubs with friends. Above all else, Barbara cherished her family. She treasured every opportunity to gather with loved ones, enthusiastically attended the sporting events of her children and grandchildren, and lovingly preserved family memories through photo albums, letters, and other meaningful mementos. Her thoughtfulness, devotion, and the memories she created will remain a lasting gift to those who knew and loved her.
Barb is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Jim Shinabarger; son, Dale (Helen) Shinabarger; grandchildren, Barbie Shinabarger, Jayme (Kyle) Sieradzki, Jacob Shinabarger, Sonya (Nolan) Weltsch; 10 great-grandchildren; siblings, Tom (Mary) Watson, and Jack (Linda) Watson; and many other loving family members and friends. In addition to her parents, Barb was preceded in death by son, Jeffrey Shinabarger; brother, Robert R. (Shirley) Watson.
