Duane Hetherington, age 60, of Flint, passed away on Saturday, February 1, 2025. Visitation will be held at 9am until the time of the Funeral Service at 11am on Thursday February 6, 2025, at Sharp Funeral Homes - Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road in Swartz Creek. He was born on June 15, 1964, in Flint, Michigan to the late Daniel and Mary Hetherington. He owned and operated Duane's Scrap Recycling for many years before retiring.
From an early age Duane was always fascinated by how things were built or how they worked. He would simply take things apart and rebuild them to learn how they worked. This was something he did his whole life, he was able to fix just about anything and created unique pieces. His love of "fixing things" carried into his obsession of classic cars. He had many throughout his years and attended many shows of which he bought home awards on his vehicles. In his earlier years he enjoyed hunting and fishing, and he would do this on his Uncle's Roy land up north. He was a simple man you enjoyed sitting on his deck and just being outdoors.
Duane is survived by his siblings, Frank Welch, Kelly Henley and Kenny Henley; nieces, Mary Wilkinson and Hailey Henley; nephew, Eddie Henley; great nieces, Kaydense Wilkinson and Makyla Wilkinson and great nephew, Will Drew. He is further survived by many other nieces, nephew and other dear relatives along with his two dogs, Sissy and Shelby.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his grandparents, Andy (Ruth) Springs, Lloyd (Lyla) Hetherington and Earl "Red" (Helen) Dyer.
