BANISTER, Robert – of Davison, MI, age 79, passed away at his home, surrounded by family and friends on Monday, August 15, 2022. A Funeral Service will be held 12 PM, Friday, August 19, 2022, at Pilgrim Lutheran Church, 3222 South Genesee Road, Burton, MI 48519; Pastor Mark Matheny officiating. Interment with Military Honors immediately following in Crestwood Cemetery. The family will receive visitors Thursday, August 18, 2022 from 1-8 PM at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd. Davison, MI 48423 and 11 AM-12 PM Friday, August 19, 2022 at Pilgrim Lutheran Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Pilgrim Lutheran Church or to Compassus Hospice.
Robert was born in Flint, MI on February 11, 1943, son of the late Robert Holbrook and Charles and Betty Jane (Pray) Banister. He married Kathy Erdman on August 8, 1964, at Calvary Lutheran Church in Flint, MI. Robert proudly served his country in the United States Army. Robert was a successful businessman. He was a very active member of Calvary Lutheran Church and Pilgrim Lutheran Church. He liked hunting, fishing and camping. Robert enjoyed travelling and spending winter months in Arizona. He could always be found tinkering in his barn. Robert kept a special place in his heart for his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and his beloved, Daisy.
Robert is survived by his wife, Kathy; 2 children, Barbara (Robert) Haus, Roy (Tonya) Banister; 6 grandchildren, Rachel (Devon), Joshua (Kayleen), Marcia (Chris), Kalee Ann, Alexa and Mallory; 4 great grandchildren, Camden, Gloria, Cash and Kinsley; 2 sisters, Bonnie (Jerry) and Nancy (Pat); brother, Chuck (Wendy); special niece and nephew, Susan and Mark Hall; and many other loving family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Holbrook, Charles and Betty Jane Banister; 2 sisters, Janet and Marie; 2 brothers, Bob and Mike; and beloved niece, Kellie Ann.
