WATKINS, Barbara Jean - Of Clarkston, age 80, died Monday, March 28, 2022 at Ascension Genesys Hospital.
A Celebration of Life will be held 3pm Saturday, April 23, 2022 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint.
Visitation 12pm Saturday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Cremation has taken place.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Genesys Hurley Cancer Institute.
Barbara was born in Pontiac, Michigan on July 13, 1941, the daughter of Louis and Jean (Lewis) Gillis. Barbara Jean Gillis Watkins dedicated her life to healthcare as a nurse, therapeutic massage therapist, respiratory therapist and head of the respiratory department at Genesys Regional Medical Center. She was loved and respected by many. Her beloved Angel House in downtown Flint was a center of natural healing and a place for special events like tea parties, weddings and social gatherings. She was such a special person. There will never be another Barbara Jean Gillis Watkins. She was and is one of a kind in all the good ways.
Surviving are longtime companion, Mike Gaylord;
Daughter, Pam (Andy) Ellard;
Son, Dave (Tracey Ramprey) Watkins;
Grandchildren, Eric and Whitney;
Great-granddaughter, Amelia;
Siblings, Bill, Pam and Kurt.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Bob.
