McCORMICK, Rodney Lee – of Burton, MI, age 66, passed away Thursday, November 18, 2021. Cremation has taken place. A Private Graveside Service will be held on a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, in Rodney’s memory.
Rodney was born in Flint, MI on November 15, 1955, son of the late Jimmie and Hazel (Armstrong) McCormick. He was a graduate of Davison High School Class of 1973. Rodney retired in 2010 from Teamsters Local 332 Car Hauler Division in Flint, MI. He was an avid fisherman. His favorite activity was to be out on a lake “slaying the fish”. Sports was another passion of Rodney’s. He was a huge University of Michigan fan. Go Blue! Rodney also enjoyed bowling and golf. Later in life, Rodney met a group of people at Richfield Bowling Alley who became dear friends. He treasured these friendships. Rodney had a heart of gold and would do just about anything for those he loved. He had a deep faith in God. Several years ago, Rodney made his peace with the Lord. God will meet you where you are to take you where he wants you to go.
Rodney is survived by his fiancée, Sandra Lord; her daughter, Tiffany (Dennis) Leppan; 2 children, daughter, Kelly M. McCormick and son, Mathew J. McCormick; 4 grandchildren, Kevin Hect, Ian Hect, Lucas Leppan and Dominic J. McCormick; 2 siblings, Ron (Kathy) McCormick of Columbiaville, MI and Sheila (John) Marder of Miramar, FL; sister-in-law, Charlotte A. McCormick of Grand Blanc, MI; special friends, Baldy Cardenas and John Martin; nieces, nephews, cousins, many other loving family members and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jimmie and Hazel McCormick and brother, Richard “Ric” McCormick.
