Valasek, James F. of Flushing, age 72, died Saturday, December 4, 2021, at McLaren – Flint. Cremation has taken place. The family has elected to wait until next summer to host a celebration of life for Jim. The family would also request (if you feel so inclined), in lieu of flowers, to make a donation to either the Flushing Senior Center or a charity of your choice.
James was born in Flint, Michigan on June 25, 1949, the son of Frank and Frances (Stewart) Valasek. He married Kathy Bennett on December 26, 1970 in Flushing Michigan. James spent his 52 year career as a truck driver, and for 13 years was a member of the Flushing Fire Department. As a young man, he served six years in the US Army Reserves, as well as enjoyed playing softball. He was a member of the Flushing American Legion and also enjoyed assisting his son Brian in his hobby of drag racing, as well as spending time golfing with his wife Kathy.
He is survived by his wife Kathy; sons, Scott Valasek (his partner Johnnie Taulbee), Brian Valasek; fiancé Kelly Gielda, former daughter-in-law Alison Valasek, granddaughter, Maggie; brother, Michael “Mick” Valasek; wife Debra; niece, Nicole Lord; and many cousins and close friends. |
