Myrna Annette Nagy, age 82, of Durand, Michigan, passed away peacefully on May 23, 2025, surrounded by loved ones.
Myrna was born on October 31, 1942, to Earl and Ida Williston. She was a source of warmth, creativity, and joy to everyone who knew her. She was a devoted mother to her daughters, Lisa (Timothy) Stehlik of Crossville, TN, and Teri Nagy of Durand, MI, and was cherished by many friends and neighbors.
She graduated from Southwestern High School and went on to earn an Associate’s Degree in Business Management from Mott Community College. Throughout her professional life, Myrna worked as a supervisor for General Motors and Chevrolet. She was also a licensed hairdresser and an Avon sales representative. In every role, she was admired for her dedication, kindness, and strong work ethic.
Myrna found great joy in the simple pleasures of life. She spent countless springs and summers tending to her backyard garden, where flowers bloomed under her care and attention. Her love for the seasons extended beyond her garden—she took great pride in decorating her home for every holiday, bringing light and celebration to her neighborhood. Her festive spirit became a beloved tradition, something the whole community looked forward to year after year.
She had a deep love and passion for animals, especially her beloved dogs, who were truly part of the family. Her gentle nature and caring heart were evident in the way she nurtured and cherished every animal in her life.
Myrna was a loving grandmother to Brandi Gilman of Durand, MI, Brianna Stehlik of Murfreesboro, TN, Hunter Stehlik, and Drew Stehlik of Crossville, TN. Her grandchildren brought her endless pride and happiness, and she shared with them her love, her wisdom, and her wonderful sense of humor.
She is survived by her daughters, grandchildren, and her brother, Wendell (Donna) Williston of Flushing, MI.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Wayne Williston and Lawton Williston; and her sister, Janice Coombs.
She will be deeply missed by her daughters, grandchildren, extended family, neighbors, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Myrna was known for her kind heart, her quiet strengths, and her generous spirit. Her legacy lives on in the beauty she created, the love she gave, and the lives she touched.
A funeral service to honor and celebrate her life will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, May 29, 2025 at Watkins Brothers Funeral Homes, 501 N. Saginaw St., Durand, MI 48429. Interment immediately following at Flint Memorial Park in Mt. Morris. The family will receive friends from 4-8:00 PM on Wednesday, May 28, 2025 at the funeral home as well as one hour prior to the service on Thursday.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Genesee County Animal Control in Flint, Michigan.
