LALIBERTE, Michel (Mike) – of Richfield Township/Davison, MI, age 77, passed away on February 8, 2022, at the Pines of Burton where he was recently cared for due to the advanced symptoms of Parkinson’s Disease. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be scheduled at a later date at the Great Lakes National Cemetery, 4200 Belford Rd. Holly, MI 48442.
Michel was born in Flint, MI, son of Mal and Margaret (Elston) Laliberte. He married Diane Kosik and they recently celebrated 50 years of marriage. His military service was with the Army from 1965 to 1967, serving in Germany during the Vietnam Era. He was proudly a longtime member of the American Legion, Post 413, Grand Blanc; having served as Commander for four years and participating in the post’s move to their current location. He was also a member of the Davison Eagles Club and a former member of the Birch Run Moose Lodge.
Mike loved sports and played softball and hockey on many local adult teams. He also coached Flint Youth Hockey (GFHA), including at Flint Northern High School. He also coached Girls Softball at Hamady High School.
Mike was happiest when boating, and owned several craft moored at Bay Harbor Marina and Saginaw Bay Yacht Club.
Mike retired from the Grand Trunk Railroad and returned to working in sales. He loved people and sold automobiles for several area dealerships including Ron Slivka Buick GMC, which is now Al Serra in Grand Blanc. He also traveled the country as a consultant for GMAC Lease Auctions.
Michel is survived by his wife and daughters, Kelly Laliberte and Melissa Hintz; three grandsons, Jonathon (Rebecca), Matthew and Bradley; one great grandson, Lukas; three sisters Nancy Rebhan, Suzanne SanCraint, and Marianne Griggs; sisters-in-law Gloria (Robert) McMunigal and Elaine (James) Catanzarite; many other loving family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, father and mother-in-law, and brothers-in-law.
