James (Jim) I. Thompson- of Clio, age 72, died Monday, December 13, 2021, at McLaren Flint, with family by his side. Visitation will be held at Fellowship Baptist church in Clio on Friday, December 17th from 4-6pm with a memorial service to follow.
James was born May 7, 1949, in Flint, MI to Herbert and Opal (Cosby) Thompson. On April 4th, 1970, he married his wife Kathie (Strickler) while serving in the Army. He worked for Delphi for 36 years and enjoyed coaching baseball for the Clio community for over 30 years. He had a love for classic cars and tv shows. Jim had 3 boys and a special nephew that he was extremely proud of. He loved his family and spending time with his grandchildren. His sense of humor and laugh will forever be missed.
James is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Kathie; sons, Steven (Karen), David (Colleen), Randy (Kelly), Ryan (Janet); grandchildren: Caitlin (Derek), Paige, Harper, Hannah, Tyler and Carsyn; great-grandchildren, Carys and Aiden; Sister, Nora and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Danny and sister Carol. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the family to be distributed to Jim's favorite charities.
