Kraszewski, Olive J. of Flushing, age 95, died Sunday, February 26, 2017, at Hyde Park Memory Home. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 7, 2017, at St. Robert Catholic Church. Fr. Gordon Reigle will officiate. Burial will follow at 1:30 p.m. at Great Lakes National Cemetery. Visitation will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church until the time of the Mass. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the National Museum of the Eighth Army Air Force.
Olive was born in London, England on May 17, 1921, the daughter of J. and Dorothy (Lehmann) Davis and was raised by her grandparents, Alexander and Frances Lehmann. Olive held a special security clearance during World War II to work on a radar. She survived a bombing during the Battle of Britain and it was during the war, she met and fell in love with Victor Kraszewski. They were married on September 13, 1944, in London. Olive traveled on the Queen Mary in March of 1946, with her son, Victor, as they immigrated thru Ellis Island and made their home in Flint. She identified herself as an English War Bride and started the War Bride's Club in Flint. Olive began work at “Chevy in the Hole” and later retired from Chevy Metal Fab. She prided herself on being able to do a man's job on the production line. Olive was full of life. She supported many cultural arts in Flint, was very musical and loved dancing. She was an avid world traveler.
Olive is survived by her husband of 72 years, Victor M; sons, Victor A. and wife Deborah Krause of Geneva, IL, Michael and wife Dorothy Krause of West Bloomfield; grandchildren, Victor L., Alexander, Anna; and sisters, Jean, Elsie, Alice, and Jeanette, all of England.
