NIELSEN, Evelyn – Of Flint, age 90, passed away Sunday, August 14, 2022 at her residence.
Funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. Thursday, August 18, 2022 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, 1227 East Bristol Road, Burton, Father Steve Anderson officiating.
Burial in New Calvary Catholic Cemetery
Visitation 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. Wednesday, August 17, 2022 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road.
Mrs. Nielsen will be at the church from 11 a.m. Thursday until the time of the service.
Evelyn was born in Coalport, Pennsylvania on July 12, 1932, the daughter of the late Martin and Mildred (Murgas) Backa and was formerly a resident of Grand Blanc and Flushing.
She was a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church and volunteered for 16 years at the church, by helping prepare funeral luncheons for Holy Redeemer Parish.
Evelyn was employed by Citizens Bank Main office for 20 years. She quit to travel with her husband. They spent every February in Punta Gorda, Florida.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Niel Sr.
Surviving are 2 children, Niel Jr. (Janice) and Susan (Brian) Dunavan;
2 grandchildren, Nick (Tiffany) Nielsen and Rylee Dunavan;
2 great-grandchildren, Elise and Brendan Nielsen.
