Gatenby, Kenneth Scott of Flushing, age 61, died Friday, May 27, 2022, at his home. A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Friday, June 17, 2022, at Rossell Funeral Home. There will be a gathering of family and friends from 12 noon until the time of the service at 2 p.m. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to an educational fund for his son, Jacob. Checks may be made payable to Jacob Gatenby.
Kenneth was born in Flint, Michigan on February 20, 1961, the son of Douglass and Beverly (Mills) Gatenby. He married Raeann Fletcher on February 25, 1989, at Flushing Presbyterian Church. Kenneth was proud of his service in the U.S. Army. He began his 45-year career at Mott Community College working as a Security Guard and for the past 30 years has been the Supervisor of Facilities for Maintenance and Construction. He was active in CLEFF at Mott Community College and cared about improving campus life for the students. In his younger years, Kenneth enjoyed skiing. He was a passionate musician and was in several bands and ran the soundboard. Kenneth was a guitar enthusiast. He was a talented poet and writer. Kenneth loved his cats, being with friends and was an amazing father to his son and best friend, Jacob.
Kenneth is survived by his wife of 33 years, Raeann; son, Jacob; sister, Diane and husband Steve Baier; father-in-law, Raymond Fletcher; sister-in-law, Melinda and husband Scott Bemis, brother-in-law, Jeff Fletcher; nieces and nephews, Nicolette and husband Tim Gagne, Drs. Lisa Baier and husband David Mika II, Zac and wife Staci Fletcher, Ian and wife Brianne Fletcher, Jessie Bemis; and several great-nieces and great-nephews. |
